By creating the TDR in 1988, Yamaha gave rise to a new category of dual-purpose motorcycles.The bike was produced up to 93g and for its time was long ago
a stylish motorcycle.The head fairing, together with the square headlight, looked strangely ironic .On the front panel there is a temperature sensor and indicator lights
for example, the speedometer is shifted closer to the steering wheel,while the tachometer is located on the front of the tank — a very interesting solution ,hinting at the sporty spirit of the motorcycle.
The Yamaha TDR250 is powered by a 2-stroke 2-cylinder engine with a ypvs power valve and cross exhaust system. TDR provides
constant acceleration, which is much higher than the acceleration of conventional motorcycles of this class.The TDR is also the world’s first two-stroke motorcycle
on which they started using the electronic ignition system CDI, controlled by a 4-bit microprocessor, which ensures perfect operation of the engine during
all speed ranges.
The 249 CC engine is based on the TZR250 motorcycle engine and produces between 46 and 50 horsepower at 9500 rpm. Engine cooling was liquid.
It was equipped with two Mikipis carburetors and a 28 mm diffuser . The bike had good traction. The maximum torque was 36 Nm at 8000 rpm.
A 6-speed transmission and chain drive made up the transmission system.
