A.Ivanov: Lecture «Strategic Ambiguity in the Asia Pacific: Roots, Features and Means of Treatment»

ASEAN Centre continues its series of online lectures titled “ASEAN Academic Days 2021 in MGIMO”. The next guest lecturer is H.E. Alexander A. Ivanov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The event will take place on March 22, 2021 (Monday) via Zoom platform at 10:30 AM (Moscow time) / 14:30 PM (Jakarta time).

The invited speaker will share his views on regional processes, trends and prospects of the Asia-Pacific region.

H.E. Alexander A. Ivanov is currently Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. He is a Candidate of Historical Sciences and graduated from Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University), School of International Relations. He is an experienced and well-known Russian diplomat, who served in a variety of appointments in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.H.E. Alexander Ivanov served as the Director of Department of ASEAN and Asia-Pacific Regional Affairs, MFA of Russiain 2004-2006, as the Ambassador of Russia to Indonesia in 2007-2012, and as the Ambassador of Russia to ASEAN (concurrently) in 2009-2012. In 2012, he was appointedAmbassador-at-large of the MFA of Russia. Author of a number of articles on the issues of the Asia Pacific security and cooperation.

In 2020 one of the leading Indonesian newspapers “The Jakarta Post” published his article titled «Strategic stability vis-à-vis ASEAN: A strange formula?»
