In 1972, Suzuki introduced the GT550 two-stroke road bike ,Which also sold the younger GT380 model and the older GT750 ,which was already more technologically advanced
and with liquid cooling,this motorcycle was released earlier.The GT550,like its younger brother, was equipped with Suzuki’s patented new Ram Air cooling system,
which passes air through the heads
cylinders. It worked really well on GT models, which were no longer aware of the problems that three-cylinder 2-stroke engines had when motorcycles lost power with them
power when the critical temperature is reached.
This system consisted of two parts of an aluminum casing bolted to the cylinder head to supply ambient air through the fins .
The Central part of the head had an increased fin area and a larger area of the entrance to the casing, so that the Central cylinder worked at the same temperature as more than
open side cylinders.
The GT550 was not as fast as its older 750 CC sibling.The engine power is 50 horsepower at 7500 rpm and 53 Nm of torque at 6 thousand rpm.
From 0 to 100 km/h,the motorcycle accelerated in 6 seconds ,and the maximum speed that the bike is capable of is 170 km/h.The dry weight of the GT550 is 215 kg. The fuel tank capacity is 16 liters.
